An 18th century Chinese porcelain Red "Rouge de Fer" punch bowl. Delightful iron red floral chinoiserie painting on creamy white porcelain body. A bird sings in a branch over a railing. A rock outcropping can be seen with flowers and plants sprouting out from it. Highlights of gold. A beautiful bowl. This has been repaired in the 19th century with iron staples. This never bothers me as it means someone loved the bowl so much they went to great lengths to repair it! Hand Painted. Imported from England. Heavy and excellent quality.
